Mt. Maunganui is an extinct volcano located in the Bay of Plenty. It's about an hour and a half away from Hamilton, and the beaches and views are simply spectacular. Siena and I hiked to the top, which took about 30 minutes up and 15 minutes down. The side of the volcano is steep, and Siena and I unfortunately chose the more challenging route. Then we all walked around the base of it. The views there were even better! We stopped and collected shells at beaches and took photos by the sea.
Lunch was fish and chips at Bobby's, before we hit the beach. The water was a little chilly, but pleasant, and Siena and I got headstarts on our tans. ;)
